Pack Verification

Every RasslinRips pack is backed by real physical trading cards held in our inventory.

When you purchase a pack, one physical trading card is selected from the eligible cards available in that pack. That card becomes yours.

You can keep it in your RasslinRips collection, request physical shipment, or choose to sell your owned card back to RasslinRips at the displayed sell-back value.

But we don't want you to simply take our word for how the selection worked.

We built RasslinRips so you can verify it.

What can I verify?

Every completed rip has a verification record. That record allows you to check:

• ✓ Which cards were eligible when you opened your pack
• ✓ Whether an advertised chase was actually included
• ✓ Which pack configuration was used
• ✓ That the recorded pack contents match their digital fingerprint
• ✓ How your physical card was selected
• ✓ That the card assigned to you matches the recorded selection

How do I know the cards shown are really in the pack?

This is one of the most important things RasslinRips verifies.

We do not maintain one list of cards to display to customers and another hidden list for the selection system.

The eligible inventory used by the pack is the inventory used by the card-selection system.

Before your card is selected, RasslinRips records the exact eligible pack state being used. That record includes information such as:

• Which cards are eligible
• Which pack level each card belongs to
• Each card's selection weight
• Available inventory
• The pack configuration currently in use

That exact information is then given a unique digital fingerprint.

What is a digital fingerprint?

Think of it as a tamper-evident seal for the pack.

Suppose a recorded pack contains:

…plus every other card available in that pack. The system turns that exact information into a unique SHA-256 fingerprint. For example: 75a39cf28b…

If someone changes the recorded pack by:

• removing John Cena;
• adding another card;
• changing a card's eligibility;
• changing its selection weight;
• changing the pack configuration;

the fingerprint changes. Your rip permanently records the fingerprint associated with the pack state used for your selection.

How does this prove a chase was really available?

Let's say a pack advertises a high-value John Cena 1/1. A customer might reasonably ask:

"How do I know that card wasn't just shown on the website? How do I know it was actually possible for the system to select it?"

Your verification record answers that question. For the exact pack state used for your rip, you can inspect the historical eligible inventory. For example:

The card isn't simply listed on a marketing page.

Its inclusion in the actual eligible inventory used by the selection system can be checked.

One pack list. One selection system.

RasslinRips does not create a public list of what customers are told they can receive and then separately use a private list of what the system is actually allowed to select.

The same recorded eligible pack state is used to:

• display available pack inventory;
• create the pack-state fingerprint;
• determine which cards are eligible;
• and perform the card selection.

That means a card cannot be presented as eligible in the verified pack state while secretly being excluded by a separate selection list.

How is my card selected?

Once the eligible pack state has been recorded, RasslinRips uses a deterministic cryptographic process to select your physical card. You don't need to understand the technical details to use RasslinRips — here's the simple version.

1. RasslinRips commits a server value

   Our system creates a private server seed. Before that seed is used, we publish its SHA-256 fingerprint. This lets us later demonstrate that the underlying server seed was not quietly replaced with a different one.

2. Your account contributes its own verification value

   Your account has a client seed, and you may change it yourself. The selection process is not based solely on information privately chosen by RasslinRips.

3. Your exact pack state is included

   Your rip is tied to the specific recorded pack state that existed when your card was selected — including the digital fingerprint representing the eligible inventory.

4. The selection is calculated

   Those recorded inputs are processed using a standard cryptographic calculation. It first determines the appropriate pack level and then selects an eligible physical card from that level.

5. Your card is recorded before the reveal

   Your selected card is determined and recorded before the reveal animation begins. The reveal animation shows your card. It does not choose your card.

How can I check my rip?

Once the server seed used for your rip has been retired, it is published. Your verification page can then independently run the same checks again. A completed verification can show:

Why does this matter?

There is a major difference between:

"This card is shown on our website."

and:

"This card was part of the actual eligible inventory used by the selection system."

RasslinRips is designed to give you evidence of the second. We want customers to be able to independently check the important parts of their purchase instead of relying exclusively on a marketing statement.

Real cards. Real ownership.

Every RasslinRips purchase results in ownership of a real physical trading card. The selection process determines which physical collectible you receive from the eligible pack inventory. After the card is assigned to you, you decide what happens next.

The physical card belongs to you after it is assigned to your account.

What does Pack Verification establish?

For a completed rip, RasslinRips creates a record connecting:

PACK CONTENTS → CARD SELECTION → YOUR PHYSICAL CARD

Want to inspect the details?

Most collectors will never need to look at the technical information — the verification page performs the checks automatically and displays the results in plain English.

For customers, developers, auditors, or technical reviewers who want to inspect the underlying system, each rip's verification page also exposes:

• Pack version and pack-state record
• Pack-state fingerprint and SHA-256 commitments
• Server seed (after rotation) and client seed
• Selection counter and HMAC-SHA256 calculation
• Pack-level selection and card-selection calculation
• The historical eligible inventory, searchable card by card

Where applicable, the detailed verifier also displays the exact mathematical selection information associated with an individual card.

Server commitments

RasslinRips publishes the fingerprint of each server seed before that seed is used. Once a server seed is retired, the original value is published so completed selections can be checked.

Verify it yourself

Transparency shouldn't require blind trust. If you've opened a RasslinRips pack, your verification record lets you inspect the pack state associated with your purchase and confirm how your physical card was selected.
